Sorry about the shouting, folks, but I just have to tell you that I am done with my Ravelympic projects. Yay!!! I feel very accomplished right now. I finished the scarf on Weds, and the socks became a pair last night.
Without further ado, here's the scarf in all its glory:
As a reminder, this was made using SWS on size 8 needles. I cast on only 16 stitches and used most of 2 skeins of yarn. This yarn is nice to knit with, but it's scratchy on my neck.
Don't you love the color changes? I really like SWS. I'm thinking of making a pair of mitts with some of this. They would be very warm.
Now my socks were not as easy to make as the scarf. It took me 3 days to find a good short row technique. And the pattern was easy enough, but I kept getting confused and had to rip out several rows at several points. The first sock I made had a regular bind off...not so good with socks.
The second sock was a lot easier. I did make the foot a tad bit too long, so my heel is actually above my heel, and the toes are a little too pointy. I probably could have knit a few more rounds too make it longer, but hiking up the sock makes it even.
These were knit in Imagination Damsel by knitpicks on size 3 needles. Aren't they pretty? I love them, and can't wait for the cold so I can wear them. It's just too hot right now for wool/alpaca socks.
I'm going to cast on another pair in a few days. I need to rest on sock making since these were done so fast.
I had a good time knitting for the Ravelympics. About a week in, though, I wondered what the reason for this whole knitting spree was. Why was I racing to make these items besides the right to say that I did it? And even if I did not complete anything, what would have happened? Nothing.
So I have decided to knit/crochet for better reasons. I'm jumping on the Red Scarf and Special Olympics bandwagon. I am also making a few handmades for RAK's ... so that makes me happy.
That's it for today. I'm going to go cast on for one of my RAK's now. I need to get it done ASAP. I will post when it's done.

I love your socks...they looks so soft and comfy :) Socks are definitely not a quick knit, but you do feel very accomplished once they're done!
Anita, the socks are gorgeous! I can't wait to learn how to make them myself. My feet always freeze in the winter!
