Hat FO’s (Surprise, Surprise)

I’ve been knitting less lately. Maybe it was my rash of dishcloths I did last week. Maybe it’s because I was reacquainted with Stumble.  Talk about a time-waste. Boy, if I had more hours in the day. But you know, the interwebs is full of great things. Some things I don’t care for, but some are funny as hell. I was laughing out loud at some of the stuff I came across. Oh well.

I did finish my mini purse for the mini purse swap on Ravelry. And here it is:

Just kidding. I can’t show pics since my partner may read my blog. All I can say is that  it’s cute, but not my most fun thing to knit. It took forever!! Well, not really. I was halfway done and I completed it over the weekend, so that’s good.

Here is Hat #8 for 09, the Black Forest Hat (Rav link).  I used SWS in Natural Plum and size 7 needles. I have such a weird head. Nothing fits me. It’s either too small or too big. some hats I swim in, some hats feel like they are slowly coming off the top of my head. Maybe it’s my hair. Maybe that’s why I don’t wear hats?

And the Banana Republic Knockoff (scroll down and look on the side).  There are several patterns out there like this one. You knit the “band” flat, then join in the round for 4 more inches before doing the crown decreases. And on chunky yarn no less! This is Plymouth Encore Chunky and size 9 needles. I did go down a needle size, but it still does not fit me. Too small. But it’s too big for my sweet model who is 8.

Here’s the front view. Don’t you love the look on her face? I can’t get a pic of her any other time except when she models my hand-knits.

I’m working on my socks. I hope they turn out. The yarn calls for a size 3 needle, but the pattern says size 1. I wasn’t about to mess with that, so I went up a needle size and omitted one repeat. I then discovered that the design would be all wonky. So I went up another needle size and omitted one more repeat. So far so good, and it’s working up fast. I’m almost to the heel on sock 1. I like doing this pattern since it’s in chunks of 16 rows. It does go fast.

I’m also working on a lap blanket for a secret swap. I am crocheting this, but put it aside to work on hearts. Now I can’t find my crochet hook. Sigh. It always happens to me.

I have 2 more hat patterns printed that I’m going to start soon and I want to finish a pair of the mystery slippers for my secret swap. So I will be keeping busy in the next few days.

I am going to try my hand at hand dyeing soon.  I will use wool and kool -aide for my first attempt. I will show pics and stuff. I just need to get the things I need to get in order to start. LOL.  So keep an eye for that!

I like the banana republic hat, I think I might have to try that one this year.

I want to dye yarn too, but first I have to have yarn to dye.

I love the Black Forest Hat! It looks great.

Dyeing with Kool-Aid is fun! It's much easier than I thought that it would be. I can't wait to see the resulting yarn.

Such a tease, I wanna see the mini purse! Great hats. Everytime I see something made in SWS, I think I have to get some of that too. Nice colors.
