I'm Ba-aack!

Wow, it's been forever since I blogged. A lot has been going on. Needless to say, I am back. To explain a little, I went through a mild to severe state of depression until I figured out what was causing it. It's taken care of, and I'm back to being a human being again. Yay!!

I have been knitting up a storm. I several FO's to show and tons more WIP's. I don't do holiday knitting, so I don't have to worry about that stress and pressure.

We got a record amount of snow over the last few days. It snowed 9 inches! That's the most we've ever had this time of year. The old record was around 4 inches. Good old lake effect. It will probably be melted by Thanksgiving, although the sub-zero temps may prevent that. Well, not quite sub-zero. But darn close. Man, it's freeking freezing in here, Mr. Bigglesworth.

On to the knitting:

This is a test pattern for a pair of fingerless mitts. No name as of yet. But they did work up very quickly. This is my 2nd ever colorwork project. They only took me 2 days to make. I used Bernat satin sport in pink and red on size 3 needles.

015

This pic shows the swirls on each glove. They are not identical! Kinda hard to see here. Check out the cuff. Slightly lacy with a subtle scalloped edge.

This is my Sasquatch skull hat. I have an extra large head, and no hat I make seems to fit this dome of mine. Well, this hat will fit a Sasquatch, I made it that big. If I make it again, I will definitely use size 8 needles. Yeah, I used a 9. But it's the only DPN's I had laying around. Oh well, live and learn. Even though it is huge, I love this hat o mine. It's pink, it's got skulls, and it rocks.

021

A close up of the skull. This is my first ever color work project. And despite the size, it really turned out fantastic.

030

This shawl has been done for some time now. I had to make it extra large since I'm not a small lady. This is the Angel Wings Shawl and I used almost 2 skeins of simply soft. It went pretty quick and was fun.

031

This is  the Spidy-ghan. My son wanted this for his 4th birthday. Well, he wanted anything spider-man for his birthday. This is what he got. He loves it.

033

I didn't get it done in time for his birthday. I only had 2 weeks to do it. But then it sat in the bottom of my bag for a few weeks...anyway. I'm a procrastinknitter. LoL.

019

Talking about big heads. I wanted a hat to keep me warm. I made this for me. But it did not fit, and my 8 yr old claimed it. But I don't mind. She wears it every day, all day long.

018

And this is the Baby Kimono from the Lion Brand site. It ties around the back and to the side. Only a 2 day project. I used Red Heart. It's kinda short in the back. Maybe my little guy has a longer back than normal.  I don't do gauge swatches.  So it is what it is. He seems pretty happy, no?

I've done a lot more knitting, but don't have pics. I made a few scarves that became gifts and sent some stuff I did not take pics of. But that's ok. I'm getting things done.

I started on a pair of socks, but my 2 yr old pulled my DPN's out and then proceeded to stick the needles into the couch cushions. I recovered most of them, but there are a few still MIA. So I decided to restart on a different pair of socks. I will cast on soon. I need to come up with a way to keep his hands off my knitting. Hmmm.... pain does not seem to have a lasting impression, LOL.

I think I'm going to make the mitered dish towel from the new Mason Dixon book. Thank goodness for the library, but it needs to go back soon.  You will probably see the towel in my next post.

It's been way too long...and it's good to be back.

It is good to have you back. I am jealous about the colorwork I am still scared to try but I want to so bad.

Oh and I like the PINK better then the skull, lol

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Holy cow, you've been BUSY!!! Very nice colorwork. Your son looks so happy, great Spidy-ghan. My DD wears my hats too, she doesn't care if they're too big.
