Sock Frustration, SP11, Baby Kimino

I guess when you knit one sock from a tutorial, a sock knitter that does not make you!

I am trying to knit a pair using Paton's Kroy. I have frogged this poor sock at least 10 times! I did not like the heel turn, it looked very wonky. So I decided to re-do it. In my zeal to rip back a few rows, and not paying attention, I had ripped back about half of my heel flap! Oh no!!! So I had to re-start the heel flap, and did the turned heel, and today I am working on the gusset. So far, so good. My husband poked fun at me, calling them the "month long socks". He joked at the rate I was going, I'd have a pair a year!!! He does not understand. Only men who knit can grasp the need for perfection...

I digress. I want to get it finished today, at least down to the toes before my knitting group meets tonight. I don't know, I may be too optimistic! Here's a pic of my sock so far. Let me tell you, it's almost impossible to get a clear shot with a two year old as your model!

I also did this baby Kimono found in the Mason Dixon book. It's a very quick knit, took me about 2 days to finish this one off. I think I will try it with mercerized cotton next. I like the thinner cotton, and the seams might be a bit more comfortable for baby...(A friend is due in Sept.) I could do a bunch of these, easy!

Now onto the fun stuff! I saw a post about SP11 on Knitorious Mrs. B blog. What!?! Another exchange. One that lasts 3 whole months!!! This is my thing. I never find out about these until it's too late, and I'm just in time!! Yea!!! Thanks, Mrs. B for the heads up. I can't wait to be spoiled by my partner, ummm, I mean to spoil my partner. Here's the link if you want to sign up. Be forewarned, you need a blog and an anyonymous e-mail addy so you can communicate with your partner.

On a final note, not knitting related, but wanted to share. This is the park close to my home. The mayor has put lots of thought into this city, and it is now blooming, (literally). I have back for a year, and have never visited this park until last Saturday with my family and mother in law from out of town. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked, but take a look at these. I dont' know which flowers are more beautiful, the real ones or the kids, LOL. And look at the statue. This is a long shot of it, surrounded by the water. This is fast becoming one of my favorite places around.
